So, it’s been a while…
At the Grand Canyon
Hey everyone! I know it’s been a little while since my last post, and I can explain.
As you know I was on a trip with a friend of mine, traveling across Canada and then back through the United States. I’m officially back. I decided to stop writing during the trip because I just didn’t have a lot of time to write anything meaningful, and I thought a bit of time off would be good!
The last post was from Calgary and A LOT has happened since then, but we’re not really going to talk about it all. I’ll give you the summary and then we’re going to move on and talk about what’s going on right now!
In Portland, OR
After Calgary and hiking in Banff National Park, we went to Kelowna to taste some of what they call “Canadian wine.” It was good.
We moved on to Vancouver. Sometimes we called it Van, or Van-city, ’cause that’s what the cool kids say, apparently. Before going there, I had heard so many good things about Van, and it really was awesome. Just a beautiful coastal city with awesome mountains right near by!
After Vancouver we skied Whistler Blackcomb, which is just about an hour North of Vancouver, and that was the highlight of the trip! Then we did Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Chicago, Fort Wayne, and home! Woah!
In Portland, we rented bikes and spent the day riding around, sampling the local cuisine…and beer. It is very easy and pleasant to bike in Portland, and I was most surprised by how calm the city was. Coming from New York, all of Portland just felt like a little town.
That’s that. So, what’s new?!
The New Stuff
Watch for New Stuff!
If you follow us on Twitter and Facebook(and you should) then you’ve seen that we’ve been posting a lot about the new bike share that is finally going to launch at the end of this month. Everyday I see at least 5 new articles on NYC’s bike share. A lot of people are really stoked for this launch and over 10,000 people have already subscribed for $95 a year! I’m super excited to see how this all works out and changes the landscape of New York City transit.
But, a lot more than that is even happening!
Here’s a short list of stuff and things:
2. Even Hoboken, NJ is getting some pretty funky, spunky, bike share.
3. Why did I just write funky and spunky? (I’m not entirely sure.)
4. It’s National Bike To Work Week, and that’s awesome! But more importantly it’s National Bike to Work Day!
5. Here’s one from the Gothamist: “A Guide To NYC Bike Etiquette In Eight Simple Tips.”
That’s all for now. I’m sure we’ll have a lot to talk about in the next few weeks with bike share actually launching, and the weather changing and life moving forward!
Have a great weekend, and I hope you had an excellent bike to work day!
